Golf isn’t just about technique.
Your body needs to create rotation, control movement and transfer force through your legs, hips and core.
That’s where strength and stability matter.
EMS training gives you a time-efficient way to work those major muscle groups under the supervision of a qualified EMS trainer.
20 minutes. One-to-one. Focused training.
Your golf swing relies on controlled rotation through the hips and trunk.
Your core helps provide stability while your body moves through the swing.
Your lower body plays an important role in creating and transferring force.
Balance and muscular control help you maintain a consistent athletic position throughout your swing.
EMS doesn’t replace golf practice. It complements it.
The research
A randomised controlled study of 54 male amateur golfers aged 18 to 70 examined whole-body EMS. Half trained with EMS; half carried on as normal. The EMS group completed 20 minutes, once per week, for 16 weeks.
Compared with the control group, the researchers reported significant improvements in three areas. They found no significant change in body-fat content or lower-back pain.
Research findings relate to the study population and protocol described. Individual results vary.
Whole-body EMS can stimulate multiple muscle groups at the same time while you perform slow, controlled movements. Each group is set separately, so the work goes where your body needs it.

Your trainer
I’m Gerard Brennan, the owner and EMS trainer at Total Body TEC in Leixlip.
I’ve been a fully qualified EMS trainer, and I’ve trained with EMS myself, for the last 11 years.
I’m in my 60s myself, so I understand that people don’t always want to spend hours lifting weights in a gym.
That’s one of the reasons I believe EMS can be an interesting training option for golfers who want to work on their strength and conditioning while keeping their training time short.
Every session at Total Body TEC is supervised by me, and your programme is adjusted to your individual ability and goals.
Your golf training isn’t just about how you feel.
At Total Body TEC, we can also use InBody body-composition analysis to track changes in muscle mass and body composition over time.
At Total Body TEC, your session is supervised from start to finish.
We don’t simply turn on the machine and leave you to it.
Your session is adjusted to your ability, experience and goals, with attention to correct movement and training intensity.
For most healthy adults, yes. Whole-body EMS trains the legs, glutes, core, back, shoulders and arms together, which are the muscle groups a golf swing relies on. Before your first session we go through a health questionnaire to make sure EMS is appropriate for you.
We cannot promise that, and nobody honestly can. The published research on golfers measured strength and body composition, not distance. What EMS can do is help you build trunk and leg strength. How that shows up in your game also depends on your technique, your practice and your equipment.
For many of our clients it is their main strength training, because it fits into 20 minutes a week. If you already enjoy the gym, EMS can sit alongside it. It does not replace golf practice, lessons or time on the course.
A full session is 20 minutes of training. Your free first session is 12 minutes in the suit, with an InBody scan and a chat beforehand. Allow a little extra time to change and get set up.
Yes. Sessions use controlled movements with no heavy weights, and the intensity is set individually for each muscle group. Gerard is in his 60s and trains with EMS himself. If you have a medical condition, a pacemaker or another implanted device, speak to your GP first and tell us before you book.
No. Your muscles need around 48 hours to recover after a session, so we recommend training at least two days before an important round. Most golfers book early in the week and play at the weekend.
No. The session is strength and conditioning, not a golf lesson. Whether you play off scratch or have just taken up the game, the training is adjusted to your ability and goals.
