Keep your muscle. Keep your independence.
From our thirties on, we all lose a little muscle every year, and it speeds up after sixty. Doctors call it sarcopenia. Strength training is the best answer anyone has found, and EMS makes strength training possible for people who would never lift a barbell.
What sarcopenia is, in plain English
Sarcopenia is the gradual loss of muscle size and strength that comes with age. It is not an illness you catch. It is what happens by default when muscles are not asked to do hard work, and modern life rarely asks.
You notice it as small things. Getting up from a low chair takes a push from your hands. The stairs feel steeper. Jars are tighter than they used to be. Your balance is not quite what it was.
It matters because muscle is what keeps you steady on your feet, protects your joints, helps control your blood sugar and lets you carry on doing things for yourself.
The good news
Muscle responds to training at any age. People in their seventies and eighties build strength when their muscles are properly challenged. The challenge is the hard part: heavy weights are intimidating, tough on worn joints and risky without good technique.
Where EMS comes in
In an EMS session the impulse does the heavy lifting. You do slow, supported movements with a trainer at your side, while the suit makes your muscles work as if the load were far greater. There is no bar on your back and no impact through your knees or hips.
Whole-body EMS has been studied in older adults, including people with sarcopenia, and trials have reported gains in muscle mass and strength. We will never promise you a number, but we will measure you on the InBody 270 so you can see your own muscle mass on paper and watch where it goes.
What our over-50s train for
Legs that get you up
Thighs and glutes are the first to go and the most important to keep. They are what lift you out of a chair and carry you up the stairs.
Balance and steadiness
A strong core and hips keep you upright when the ground is uneven or the dog pulls on the lead.
A back that holds up
The deep muscles along the spine are trained in every session. More on EMS and backs.
Staying in the game
Golf, hill walking, gardening, grandchildren. The point of strength is what it lets you keep doing.
Proof on paper
Your InBody scan shows skeletal muscle mass, limb by limb. Nothing motivates like seeing the number go the right way.
No gym floor
A private studio, by appointment, one client or one couple at a time. Train alone or bring your partner.
Is it safe at my age?
For most healthy older adults, yes, and we start gently. EMS is not suitable if you have a pacemaker or other implanted electrical device, a serious heart or circulation condition, thrombosis, epilepsy or a recent operation. If you take regular medication or have any medical condition, talk to your GP first and tell us before your trial. We go through a health questionnaire with every new client, and you control the intensity at every moment.
Find out how much muscle you have today. It is free.
An InBody 270 scan, a chat about your health and goals, and a gentle 12-minute trial in the suit. No obligation.
